The Blue Light Players are bringing 80’s glam metal rock to the Hannah Community Center February 19 - 26. Rock of Ages, a musical with a book by Chris A’rienzo along with arrangements and orchestrations by Ethan Popp, is comprised of music from the likes of Journey, Twisted Sister, Jefferson Airplane and Europe. Set in 1987 LA on the Sunset Strip, Rock of Ages is the story of Drew and Sherri, two young people trying to make it big in LA, complete with big hair and guitar solos.

The Blue Light Players is a non-profit musical theater group that raises money for the families of fallen and critically injured Michigan police officers. They have been performing fundraiser shows in the Albert White Theater of the Hannah Community Center for six years. 2015-16 sponsors of Blue Light Players include M3 Group, MSU Federal Credit Union, Sherwin Williams Paint Store and Dean Transportation.

Blue Light Players’ Helen Hart said that they chose to do Rock of Ages now because it is new to the area. “We like to pick shows that are recently released and Rock of Ages just wrapped up on Broadway in January 2015. The rights weren’t released until April 2015 and we are one of only 80 groups worldwide who have been allowed to perform it. It’s kind of a big deal.” Hart added that they try to reach a cross-section of theater goers and they hope that this show will bring out lovers of musical theater, but also fans of 80’s metal rock.

The show opened Friday February 20, but there are more shows on Sat, February 20 and February 25 and 26. All shows begin at 7pm.  Tickets may be purchased in advance through the Blue Light Players box office at 517-490-4567 or, or online with a credit card at Seat Yourself. On the evening of the performance, tickets may be purchased at the door.

Tickets purchased at the door or through the box office are $15.00 and only cash and checks are accepted. Online, tickets are $16.50 each and includes a processing fee.
