East Lansing Info’s two-week-long Summer Youth Journalism Program still has a small number of spots open, and so we are extending the application deadline through Friday, June 16, 2017. Applications from those aged 14-22 are being reviewed on a rolling basis by Program Director Cody Harrell until the program is full, so those interested should apply as soon as possible. Applicants do not need to live in East Lansing. (Click here to learn more about the August 2017 program and to find out about the application process.)
We are excited today to announce that the group meetings of our August 2017 program will be happening at the East Lansing Public Library—a perfect location for a program focused on community-service information gathering and information sharing. We are very grateful to Library Director Kristin Shelley and Assistant Director Jason Shoup for making (lovely, air-conditioned!) space for ELi's first youth journalism program!
Are you, like me, too old to be a part of this remarkable educational program? You can still help! ELi is now accepting tax-deductible donations for the program to match the generous grant we have received from the Lansing Area Community Trust (LACT) for our Summer Youth Journalism program. Matching donations will help us provide adequate resources to our participants (including, we hope, lunch from local food-sellers!) and will go to help support participants who opt to continue working as journalists for ELi after the program’s completion.
Donations by check can be sent to East Lansing Info at PO Box 115, East Lansing, MI 48826. Donations by credit card can be made through this link. Please consider giving today!
