The Facebook page for MSU Surplus Book store’s Book and Media Sale promises “The largest book and media sale we have ever held!” The Sale begins on Saturday, July 16th 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., closed on Sunday, July 17th and is open again Monday, July 18th 12:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m., and Tuesday, July 19th 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Listed among the items for sale are Over 50,000 books, “plus records, art, stamps, ephemera, comics, collectibles and more (even some 8-tracks)!” The Sale “includes all genres of books, and most books are $2 and under. Proceeds from the sale support MSU Libraries and our public recycling collection events.”
James Ives, MSU’s Education and Outreach Coordinator said that the materials for sale come “Primarily from many different libraries on campus.” He said items also come from the MSU Recycling Center across the street, and added that shoppers should expect most books to be $2, but some unique books may be higher.
Ives says this is the first time an event this size is taking place. Normally the sales they have are smaller. However, they had gained a high quantity of books, so they figured “Why not?”
When asked how many people are expected to attend the event Ives said “Hard telling - you know, as many as possible, hopefully.”
The MSU Surplus Store is located at 468 Green Way, East Lansing, Michigan 48824.
